Hypnosis is a mental state or set of attitudes usually induced by a procedure known as a hypnotic induction, which is commonly composed of a series of preliminary instructions and suggestions. Hypnotic suggestions may be delivered by a hypnotist in the presence of the subject, or may be self-administered. The use of hypnotism for therapeutic purposes is referred to as hypnotherapy.
The funny thing about hypnosis, though, is that once you first start to learn how to hypnotize other people, you will realize that it doesn’t quite work how most people think it does. But if you really want to know how to learn hypnosis, here are some tips that might help.
Number one: Get a massage. This may seem surprising, but what most of us are not aware of is that communication between two people happens mostly on channels other than that of the spoken language. Most of it actually happens at the level of body language, voice tone, and facial expressions. Therefore, if you want to hypnotize a person, then you have to be able to easily enter a relaxed state. It is easier for some people to do this, but for others, this may prove difficult because they have been subject to stress for such a long time that they are unknowingly quite tense. These people exhibit shallow breathing and other signs of stress. Also, these people may have already forgotten what it’s like to be relaxed. A good massage will definitely leave you feeling like jelly and relaxing all those tense muscles left in your body.
Number two: Breathe deeply. Notice how your chest and abdomen rise and fall as you breathe.
Number three: Practice your hypnosis skills. However, remember to choose a particular time and place to practice, instead of trying it out wherever and whenever you speak to someone.
Number four: Focus on one skill or technique at a time. People tend to become overwhelmed when they learn a tremendous amount of information all at once. Also, they tend to become excited and want to get started as soon as they can after listening to eighteen hours of audio or reading a 600-page ebook on hypnosis. But because of the numerous choices, they end up not knowing which particular skill or technique to apply. It is important, therefore, to try to use one technique at a time, focus on it, master it, and then move on to the next.
And number five: Use hypnosis to learn hypnosis. This may sound weird but you can actually record your own hypnosis inductions where you hypnotize yourself into being a great hypnotist one of these days.
